    Abstract:
    The assessment of the mineral resource potential of the Routt National Forest and the Middle Park Ranger District of the Arapaho National Forest, Colorado, was conducted so that the mineral resources of the forest can be considered along with other resources in land use planning. This report discusses the potential for as yet undiscovered mineral and energy resources within the forest. Mineral resource information is given in terms of mineral deposit types and their geologic settings, and mineral deposit types are defined by geologic characteristics of known deposits that may occur within or near the forest. All available information regarding mineral deposits or occurrences and energy resources, as of June 1994, was assembled to assess the mineral and energy potential. Geologic maps were compiled and mineral and energy potential maps were also created for deposit types within the forest.

    In Japanese national parks,the designation of a park and its zoning boundaries is influenced by land ownership. There has been criticism that zoning is influenced by timber production or other commercial activities. We examined the relationship between the national park plan and national forest plan in the Shikotsu-Jozankei area in Shikotsu-Toya National Park. We overlaid the national forest management plan map with the park plan map using a GIS. We found that half of the park boundaries have commonality with a national forest unit and 36% with municipal boundaries. The special protection zone and special zone I of the national park plan are similar to the Protection Forest in a national forest. Special zone II is similar to the Recreation Forest in a national forest. National forest functional zones have many similarities with national park zoning. These results clarified the significant effect of a national forest plan on the definition of national park zoning.

    Afghanistan has significant amounts of undiscovered nonfuel mineral resources, with copper and iron ore having the most potential for extraction, according to a new U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) assessment. The assessment, done cooperatively with the Afghanistan Geological Survey of the Afghanistan Ministry of Mines, also found indications of significant deposits of colored stones and gemstones (including emeralds, rubies, and sapphires), gold, mercury, sulfur, chromite, and other resources. “Mineral resource assessments provide government decision‐makers and potential private investors with objective, unbiased information on where undiscovered mineral resources may be located, what kinds of resources are likely to occur, and how much of each mineral commodity may exist in them,” said USGS director Mark Myers. The USGS, in cooperation with the Afghan government, released an oil and gas resources assessment in May 2007.     In Xinjiang geological exploration of 2004, very important progresses were made in exploration of copper-nickel, gold, lead-zinc, antimony, tungsten, iron, coal, and non-metal etc., which had found a number of mineral occurrences, expanded deposit prospects, increased resource reserve, decided on a number of important mineralization zones, and made new finds and knowledge in basic geological research. The geological exploration of 2005 continuously insists on the general arrangement of attacking Tianshan, deepening Altay and opening up Kunlun and Aerjing, and the work principle of regional program, regional survey, geochemical and geophysical investigation, prospecting and scientific research in union, and explores the mineral resources that country and local region urgently demand such as coal, rich iron, copper-nickel, rich lead-zinc, gold and uranium etc., and finds super-large to large and apparent economical deposit types. The geological exploration of 2005 is about to carry on of basic geology and mineral resources survey and mineral resource assessment, serve mine developing, and start commercial mineral resource exploration with means by protruding main points, increasing investment, strengthening comprehensive finding minerals, and producing and scientific research in union, and finally, make great efforts realize a new break of finding minerals.

    Situated in between China and Russia,Mongolia is enriched in various mineral and an ideal place for development of mineral industry. With the discoveries of the Oyu Tolgoi giant copper—gold deposit and the White Hill large size copper—zinc deposit occurring in southern Mongolia. The metallogenic studies and mineral exploration have attracted the great attention from Mongolian domestic and international mining communities. To carry out the idea of types of mining markets and two types of mineral resources in China,the Mongolia,especially southern Mongolia,will be the best choice. For clearly understanding the present mineral industry of Mongolia,the basic geological feature of mineral occurrences and the modified mining legislation have been summarized,the exploitation of important mineral deposit and the future of Mongolian mineral industry have been discussed in this paper. The purpose for this work is to upgrade the level of metallogenic study and mineral exploration on various deposits occurring in Mongolia,especially in southern Mongolia.

    Forest fires cause losses and negative impact. Forest fire in mountain Ciremai national park caused by human factor. Efforts to control forest fires currently preferred by involving the community. This research is done using primary data and information obtained from filling the questionnaire. Research is taking samples from three villages namely Cibuntu village, Padabeunghar villages, and Kaduela village. Respondents were interviewed 90 respondents. Based on researches known that the area around the national park had high perception of Ciremai national existance. They argue that the mountain Ciremai national parks useful in life and the management of mountain Ciremai national parks better. Based on the scoring of 90 respondents 70 of them have a highperception of the forest fire control in mountain Ciremai national park, it means that most of people have participated in efforts to control forest fire.Key words: Forest fire,community role, forest fire control

    Two populations of the water mite Atractides circumcinctus Schwoerbel, 1956 are recorded from the Black Forest National Park (Germany, Baden-Württemberg). This species had not been found since its first description and some additional records published by Schwoerbel (1958). A redescription is given, the morphological variability and diagnostic features of the species are discussed.
