    Abstract:
    The aim of the study was to elucidate the therapeutic effects of Atracylodes rhizome polysaccharide on adenine-induced chronic renal failure in rats. Fifty male Sprague Dawley rats were selected and randomly divided in to 5 groups (n=10 rats per group): The normal control group, the chronic renal failure pathological control group, the dexamethasone treatment group and two Atracylodes rhizome polysaccharide treatment groups, treated with two different concentrations of the polysaccharide, the Atracylodes rhizome polysaccharide high group and the Atracylodes rhizome polysaccharide low group. All the rats, except those in the normal control group were fed adenine-enriched diets, containing 10 g adenine per kg food for 3 weeks. After being fed with adenine, the dexamethasone treatment group, Atracylodes rhizome polysaccharide high group and Atracylodes rhizome polysaccharide low group rats were administered the drug orally for 2 weeks. On day 35, the kidney coefficient of the rats and the serum levels of creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, total protein and hemalbumin were determined. Subsequent to experimentation on a model of chronic renal failure in rats, the preparation was proven to be able to reduce serum levels of creatinine, blood urea nitrogen and hemalbumin levels (P<0.05) and improve renal function. Atracylodes rhizome polysaccharide had reversed the majority of the indices of chronic renal failure in rats.

    Objective: To investigate the clinical effect and value of Uremic Clearance Granule in the treatment of chronic renal failure.Methods: 150 patients with chronic renal failure patients were divided into observation group(76 cases) and control group(74 cases).The patients in control group were treated by the conventional diet therapy and comprehensive therapy,and patients in the observation group were taken Uremic Clearance Granule 4 times a day and one bag each time(5.0 g) for 2 months on the basis of the control group.The changes of clinical therapeutic efficacy,blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and serum creatinine(Scr) of two groups were observed and analyzed.Results: The efficacy of two groups were compared after the treatment of 2 months,the observation group was significantly better than those in control group(P 0.05);the BUN,Scr of observation group decreased obviously compare with pretreatment(P0.05);the BUN of control group decreased obviously compare with pretreatment(P0.05),and there was no statistical significance with Scr improve-ment(P0.05);after treatment,the BUN,Scr of observation group had decreased which had statistical significance compare with control group(P0.05).Conclusion: Uremic Clearance Granule has the significant improvement for clinical symptoms of chronic renal failure patients.It could delay the deterioration of renal function and improve the survival quality with cheap and easy administration that it is worthy of clinic application.

    Rhizome growth characteristics of Chimonbambusa hejiangensis affected the quality of shoots instantly.The rhizome growth rules were studied in this paper.The results showed that the rhizome of chimonbambusa hejiangensis was mainly distributed in the depth of 0~25cm in soil,especially in 5~10cm.The rhizome angle,diameter at half of one rhizome and the rhizome length were significantly different between the clones.The more rhizomes grew in a short-term when the underground stems grew to a certain length.Meanwhile it was also found that the temperature and rainfall in June to September were the limiting factors of rhizome growth.

    Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbAıc) in Chronic Renal Failure Glycosylated hemoglobin levels were investigated in chronic renal failure patients who are compansated or on regular hemodialysis program, and in a group of healthy volunteers. The blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinin levels were also determined. Patients who are on hemodialysis (Group lli) had decreased levels of HbAıc compared to patikents on patients with compansated chronic renal failure (group II) (17.0 ± 4.4 % to 16.3 ± 0.8 %). No correlation was found between HbAıc values, serum creatinin and BUN levels. The results were discussed considering various factors may affect on the level of glycosylated hemoglobin.

    Objective To explore the effect of Xiaodan Granules on renal function of rats with chronic renal failure(CRF) induced by adenine.Methods Except for the normal group,the rats with CRF induced by adenine were randomly divivded into five groups: model group,low,mediate,high dosage(0.99,1.98,3.96 g ·kg-1) of Xiaodan Granules group and positive control group with Niaoduqing Granules(2.09 g · kg-1).Corresponding drugs were given to these five groups for 30 days.The serum creatinine(SCr),blood urea nitrogen(BUN) and pathology were investigated to find out differences among them.Results Compared with the model group,SCr and BUN in Xiaodan Granales and Niaoduqing Grahules groups were significantly decreased,and renal pathology have improved in all treated CRF rats.Conclusion Xiaodan Granules have definitely therapeutic effect on chronic renal failure of rats caused by adenine.

    Rhizome diameter,internode length,and the number of cross rhizomes and jumping rhizomes of a Phyllostachys pubescens forest which was used for both bamboo shoots and bamboo poles and whose rhizome shoots were dug out and removed for 8 years were studied.Results showed that compared with the rhizome shoot forests that were not removed:(1) cross rhizome diameters decreased 0.1 cm than main rhizome diameters;(2) the average diameter of the all rhizomes increased 0.30 cm;(3) the average diameter of the main rhizomes increased 0.30-0.70 cm;(4) the average internode length of the all rhizomes increased 0.31 cm;(5) the cross rhizome number significantly increased two(t = 6.006t0.01 = 3.355);and(6) in rhizome shoot forests that were removed,there were no jumping rhizomes.

    Scaly rhizome formation in Achimenes cv. Primadonna was investigated under controlled conditions in growth chambers. When plants from seeds were grown at 30-25°C (day/night), scaly rhizome formation was delayed. Plants from cuttings grown at 30-25°C showed a delay in scaly rhizome formation. Also, in plants grown from rhizomes, the number of scaly rhizomes and fresh weight of scaly rhizome were lowest at 30-25°C. These results indicate that high temperature at 30-25°C retards the scaly rhizome formation in Achimenes.
    1 Solidago altissima forms large compact below‐ground rhizome systems. The rhizome systems of 30 genets in a population that had colonized an old‐field in 1984 were mapped yearly in situ from 1988 to 1992. Branching angles, lengths and survival of rhizomes, and production of daughter rhizomes, were calculated from digitized maps. 2 We hypothesized that genets of S. altissima would prevent intraclonal crowding by producing longer but fewer rhizomes as they increased in size. In addition, we tested the effects of environmental factors on rhizome dynamics by (i) mowing in late summer, (ii) cutting of rhizome connections, and (iii) removal of close neighbour plants. 3 Most rhizomes were initiated at an angle of 60°−65° relative to the parent rhizome. Subsequent growth tended towards the parent axis and towards more centrifugal growth. Rhizome angles were not influenced by any treatment. 4 In control genets, rhizome density increased 1.3‐fold from March 1988 to March 1992. The number of newly produced rhizomes per genet decreased and their length increased from 1988 to 1992. Longer rhizomes had a higher survival probability than shorter rhizomes did. The number of newly produced rhizomes per parent rhizome was positively correlated with mean rhizome length per genet. 5 Mowing strongly decreased rhizome density from 1988 to 1992, mainly due to reduced production of new rhizomes. 6 Rhizome cutting led to a slight decline in the rhizome population and to shorter lengths of rhizomes in their second year compared with controls. 7 The removal of close neighbour plants led to increased rhizome densities. These rhizomes grew longer than controls in unmown plots and shorter in mown plots and had higher probabilities of surviving into their second year. 8 Yearly mowing could successfully prevent the further spread of S. altissima because it acts on rhizome and shoot dynamics as well as on seed output.
    Objective To discuss the therapeutic effect on chronic renal failure of Jinshuibao.Methods A therapeutic effect restospective analysis of Jinshuibao was conducted in 20 patients in our hospital with CRF.Results After treatment,a marked increase in Hb,serum creatinine,blood urea nitrogen significantly reduced,clinical symptoms of chronic renal failure markedly improved.Conclusion Good results and relatively safe have been obtained by the treatment of Jinshuibao on chronic renal failure,The Jinshuibao is the ideal drug for cureing chronic renal failure on clinical.

    Objective To study the antioxidant activity of Reed rhizome.Methods The prepration,purification and determination of polysaccharides in Reed rhizome were investigated.The optimal technical parameters of extracting polysaccharides from Reed rhizome were determined through orthogonal test.The antioxidative activity of Reed rhizome Polysaccharides were studied and compared with Vc including the experiment of inhibiting the formation of hydroxyl radical,reducing power and inhibiting formation of lipid peroxidation.Results The result showed that the optimal technical parameters were liquid—solid ratio l:3 and the extracting time 8minutes under max power through microwave assistant extraction.The concentration of polysaccharide in Reed rhizome was 0.798%.Polysaccharides had obvious reducing capauty and was equal to Vc.Scavenging capability to hydroxyl radical of Polysaccharides was lower than Vc.When Abs was lower than 0.88,the inhibition to lipid peroxidation was equal to polysaccharide.Conclusion Microwave method is helpful to extract the polysaccharides in the Reed rhizome,and it demonstrates the antioxidant activity of the polysaccharides.
