The effect of biliary obstruction upon canine gastric secretory activity

Summary Gastric secretory activity was studied in six dogs with Heidenhain pouches before and after ligation of the common bile duct. Significant rises in secretion occurred in animals with significant biliary obstruction. The possible mechanisms responsible for this phenomenon are discussed.
