Modelling of a Demand Side Management Scheme using Simple Game Theoretic Approach

2019
Game theory (GT) is a field of mathematics where the various entities of a system are modelled as players and they exhibit their individual behavior. Conventional examples of game theory used for comprehending game theory are described in detail to justify the coordination game model employed for the demand side management strategy. In the DSM strategy employed in the paper, the load is categorized into six groups namely Very Critical, Critical, Moderately Critical, Non Critical Loads 1, Non Critical Loads 2 and Non Critical Loads 3. The paper addresses a Nash Equilibrium (NE) based Game theoretic approach for Demand Side Management using consumer based priority load control taking into account the power deficit. A simple power deficit curve for a specific day is considered and the switching is implemented using NE based Game Theory and the results are observed to pursue the actual load switching. The model can be implemented on an embedded platform and tested in a practical smart grid environment.
