On the experimental observability of conservative scaling in the Feigenbaum transition to chaos

Abstract It is shown that experimental period-doubling systems should scale initially with the Feigenbaum constant δ c = 8.7201… of conservative systems if the dissipation is less than a critical dissipation. In the light of this result some recent mechanical and electronic experiments are discussed, which may be suited to measure δ c experimentally.
