GALERKIN'S FINITE ELEMENT METHOD FOR SOLVING SPECIEL FORTH-ORDER BOUNDARY-VALUE PROBLEM

In this paper, a Galerkin's finite element approach based on weighted-residual is presented to find approximate solutions of a special fourth -order boundary-value problem. The approach utilizes a piece-wise cubic approximation utilizing cubic Hermite interpolation polynomials.This paper will present a comparison between four methods. Numerical studies have shown the superior accuracy of the Galerkin's finite element method in comparison with the differential transform method, Adomian decomposition method and homotopy perturbation method .
