Investigation and analysis of death cases with nosocomial infection in 93 hospitals

OBJECTIVE To analyze the nosocomial infections among dead cases and explore the relationship and characteristics between death and nosocomial infections.METHODS In the use of Beijing regional hospital infection surveillance system,retrospective investigation and analysis were made in patients died of infection during Jan 2008-Dec 2010.RESULTS Totally 6 023 cases died during the period,and 3959 cases died of nosocomial infection.CONCLUSIONS Seuile patients,hospital stay more than 30 days,surgery,long-term catheterization,mechanical ventilation are high risks to infection.Staphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Candida albicans are the major pathogens in the deaths of nosocomial infection.
