The Study of Generalized Spatial Modulation Based on MPAPM Signals in Indoor Visible Light Communication System

2020
In this paper, a new generalized spatial modulation scheme is proposed to improve the transmission rate of data for indoor visible light communication system. Firstly, a multiple pulses modulation on the amplitude and the position (MPAPM) is constructed based on the multiple pulses modulation on the amplitude and the multiple pulses modulation on the position. secondly, the idea of generalized spatial modulation is applied to activate the selected LED group to transmit the constructed optical signals with MPAPM; simultaneously, PWM is also performed to realize the dimming control, which can enhance the ability to resist interference from the light. Finally, this new scheme is implemented on a hardware platform based on the 51 MCU. It is indicated from results of the study that the proposed scheme can not only effectively improve the transmission rate but also reduce the BER in indoor visible light communication system without lowering the light quality.
