Un estudio comparativo entre la bacteriología de la orina y la de los cálculos del tracto urinario

The purpose of this prospective study was to confirm if the culture of midstream urine is able to predict the bacteriology of urinary stones. This study was developed in 17 patients of our institution performing midstream culture one week previous to the surgery and posterior calculus culture. When we compared both results we confirmed that the bacteriology of midstream urine and calculus is in the majority of the cases different so, this indicates that midstream culture has not a high predictive value for the prevention of sepsis and bacteremia in this group of patients.
