A ferritic stainless steel excellent high purity regarding resistance against corrosion, comprising, in mass%, C: from 0.001 to 0.02%, Si: 0.01 to 0.6%, Mn: 0.01 to 0.6%, P: 0.005 to 0.04%, S: 0.0001 to 0.01%, Cr: 13 to 22%, N: 0.001 to 0.02%, Al : 0.005 to 0.05%, Sn: 0.001 to 1%, and optionally one or more of Ti: 0.05 to 0.35%, Ni: 0.05 to 0.5%, Cu: from 0.05 to 0.5%, Nb: 0.05 to 0.7%, Mo: 0.005 to 0.5%, Mg: 0.0001 to 0.005%, B: 0.0003 to 0.005% , Ca: 0.0003 to 0.005% and a balance of Fe and unavoidable impurities, wherein said steel is characterized by the following two relationships fulfill the formula (1) and formula (2), where I ( Fe), I (Cr), I (Sn) and I (O) are the intensities of X-rays of Fe oxides, oxides of Cr, oxides of Sn and other oxides detected in the steel surface measured by means of photoelectron spectrometer X-ray: 0
