Factors influencing germination of Canavalia brasiliensis, Leucaena leucocephala, Clitoria ternatea and Calopogonium mucunoides seeds

1995
Several factors affecting germination of C. brasiliensis, L. leucocephala, C. ternatea and C. mucunoides seeds were investigated. They all show primary dormancy which is broken different treatments. Chemical scarification produced by hot water or sulphuric acid facilitate seed germination better than mechanical procedures. Temperature was another essential factor, 28°C providing the optimum condition. On the other hand, salinity affects seed germination, althoug some seeds showed relative tolerance to high salt concentrations.
