A importância do processo de verticalização urbana para o ensino de Geografia

2021
Urban verticalization is a geographic phenomenon that profoundly alters the urban landscape. It is the construction of commercial and residential buildings, driven by the growing real estate speculation, which causes large capital investments to be implemented in this sector, causing a series of socio-spatial impacts on cities. Therefore, the objective of this work is based on reflecting on the urban verticalization process, as a fundamental theme for Geography classes, allowing students to understand not only the contents related to urbanization and the formation of cities, but also the understanding about the transformation of space and the production of landscapes in cities. In this way, the production of buildings transforms the space, altering the urban landscape, being a process that can be visualized in the daily lives of students. Some resources can be used to help students' understanding, such as the internet itself with the world of possibilities it allows, Google Earth, photographs taken by drones, in addition to the use of thematic cartography, combined with fieldwork, which are indispensable for teaching and learning in Geography. Urban verticalization, like all other objects deployed in the city, contributes in a fundamental way for students to learn about the transformations of geographic space over time, as well as to better understand their own place in the world.
