Vibrational Circular Dichroism Spectroscopy : Raman Optical Activity

We have carried over experimental measurements and analyses of optically active molecules by dichroism spectroscopy with circularly polarized infrared light. We discovered the OH bending modes of alcoholic molecules give fairly strong VCD(vibrational circular dichroism)signals when the molecules are dissolved in nonpolar solvent or in solvent of weak polarity where intermolecular hydrogen bonding is shut off.
