Study of CO2 Emission Estimation and Clarification of Congestion Length Using DSRC Probe Data

2010
The National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has responded to the Joint Public and Private Sector Research on Next Generation Road Service Provision Systems implemented under ITS Enters the Second Stage (August 2004) proposed by the Smartway Promotion Committee, by developing technologies for next generation road services which will use the DSRC road-vehicle communication system. Past studies include a probe data collection test using roadside equipment installed on an urban expressway and center equipment, which confirmed that it is possible to obtain probe data with a DSRC road-vehicle communication system. It also showed the directions of DSRC probe data use taking the comparison of behavior history data and accident hot spot information as an example. This paper reports on the results of a study, conducted based on the results of past studies, to estimate CO2 emissions using DSRC probe data, with reference to a variety of newly obtained vehicle data.
