Evolutionary Parameters of ETI

It is impossible to discuss the question of life, on the one hand, and of intelligence on the other, without considering questions of change and evolution. By its very nature, life must be a dynamic system. This chapter examines the closely related issues of sexuality, reproduction, and evolution. Each of these three terms includes a wide potential array of choices and various ways of going about the same thing: the survival and flourishing of a species. Some of these alternatives, which can be seen among Earth's animals, point to generalizations that can be made about ETI and their evolution.
