Relationship between carotid atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction by B-mode ultrasonography.

Objective:To detect the association of arteria carotis artherosclerosis and cerebral infarction.Methods:we choosed 103 patients of cerebral infarction between April in 2007 and April in 2009 in ourhospital.while we choosed 51 patients of non-cerebral infarction as the control at the same time.We detected arteria carotis; distant of arteria carotis communis ; initiation of arteria carotis interna ; crotch of arteria carotis by color Doppler and observed endomembrane of blood vessel including morphous;size; character of plaque; narrow of lumina.Results:There was no difference in thickening endomembrane between two groups (P0.05);but there was significant difference in incidence of plaque between two groups (P0.05);②The rate of plaque location in oncoides of arteria carotis communis; trunk arteria carotis interna ; initiation of arteria carotis interna; arteria vertebralis was respectively 43.8%;30.1%; 13.6%; 6.8%;5.4%;③there was significant difference in incidence of gently;midrange; severe narrow (P0.05).Conclusions:Arteria carotis artherosclerosis can reflect cerebral atherosclerosis in a certain extentand and has an intimate relationship with cerebral infarction.Arteria carotis artherosclerosis is an important index of predicting cerebral infarction.It is important significance of early discovery arteria carotis artherosclerosis forprevent beforehand of cerebral infarction.
