A CASE OF FIXED DOSE COMBINATION (FDC) INDUCED FIXED DRUG ERRUPTION

2011
A 55years old female admitted to the Medical College Hospital with presenting complaints of pruritis, hyperpigmented skin lesions and blebs. Before admission she had fever, cold and cough for which she took a fixed dose combination drug (vicks action 500 tab) as self medication for two days. She developed these lesions after 24hrs of the intake of last tablet. The clinical features with which the patient presented were similar to those seen in a typical case of bullous fixed drug eruption. The patient recovered after stopping the drug. The lesions healed leaving hyperpigmentation. Further rechallenge was not done in the interest of the patient and due to ethical constraints. This case is reported for rare cutaneous adverse reaction with Vicks action 500.
