Virtual-machine-based network exercises for introductory computer networking courses

This paper describes laboratory exercises for a computer network lab based on virtual machines. It provides a hands-on environment for programs that do not have access to dedicated computer facilities for working with networking concepts. The lab has been used in introductory networking courses to provide students with hands-on experience setting up networked hosts with IP subnets, routers, and servers.
