Supervision and Mentoring

Supervision in the field of behavior analysis continues to positively evolve. This evolution is due to the development of new field standards, published literature, and refined conceptualization of the supervisor role. This chapter is a useful resource for readers wishing to understand the ABA supervision literature, implement recommended practices, and develop a supervision research agenda. I summarize and synthesize the behavior analytic literature on supervision and discuss the implications of research findings. I discuss key features of effective supervision, while providing practice recommendations for behavior analytic supervisors, supervisor, and supervisees.
