Dermatologic Manifestations of Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the Canine

1989
Most sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in veterinary medicine do not have dermatologie manifestations and therefore are inherently different from many STDs in human medicine. As such, this group of diseases is addressed by the specialty of theriogenology, which is defined in Dorland’s Illustrated Medical Dictionary as “that branch of veterinary medicine which deals with reproduction, including the physiology and pathology of male and female reproductive systems and the clinical practice of veterinary obstetrics, gynecology and semenology.” The American College of Theriogenologists was recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association as a distinct specialty in 1974.
