Zusammenfassung Die vorliegende Arbeit soll eine Literaturubersicht uber Peptidoglykan geben, das als Bestandteil von Bakterienzellwanden eine Vielzahl biologischer Wirkungen im Wirtsorganismus auslosen kann und dessen Biosynthese den Angriffspunkt der Antibiotika darstellt. Neben diesen Themen wird auf die Struktur, die Isolierung, den Nachweis und den Abbau des Peptidoglykans eingegangen. Summary This article comprises a review of published work on peptiglyloglycans which, as a component of bacterial cell walls can have a multiplicity of biological effects on the host organism and whose biosynthesis constitutes a site of attack of antibiotics. In addition, the review deals with the structure, isolation, detection and breakdown of peptidoglycans.
