Objectives:This study aimed at evaluating the reliability and validity of a Korean short version of the Body Shape Questionnaire(BSQ). Methods:The subjects included 467 adults in Daejeon, Korea. All subjects filled out the Korean version of BSQ, Body Dysmorphic Disorder Examination-Self Report; Korean version(Korean version : BDDE-SR), and Eating Disorder Inventory-2(EDI-2). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate the fit index of a different version of BSQ. The reliability and validity was checked. The BSQ was initially administrated to general adults(N=467), and the second time it was administered to a subset of subjects(N=88). Results:Confirmatory factor analysis of the different version of BSQ suggested that BSQ-8B was the best Korean BSQ in nonclinical samples. Test-retest Pearson’s coefficient was 0.907, the Cronbach’s alpha was 0.861. The correlation between the K-BSQ-8B and the BDDE-SR was 0.685(p Conclusion:This finding suggests that the K-BSQ-8B possesses good psychometric properties. The K-BSQ-8B is an useful tool for assessing the level of body concern among Korean adults.
