Title:Bilateral Localized Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis of the Knee. A case report and Systematic Review of Literature.

2018
Abstract Several cases of bilateral diffuse Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis (PVNS) or tenosynovial giant cell tumor were described in the literature. To our knowledge, this case-report is only the third bilateral and localized PVNS of the knee, and the first supra-patellar described. We performed a systematic review of data searched in Pubmed Clinical Queries, MeSH uniterms related do PVNS and Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumor and could just found two articles associated with bilateral and localized PVNS of the knee. In this case, we present a 28 years old woman with bilateral localized PVNS of the supra-patellar recess of the knee. MRI showed a low signal intensity nodule in T1- and T2- weighted images. These were associated with hemosiderin pigment. Histopathology analysis confirmed a rare case of hemosiderin pigment in capsular nodule with an internal non-pigmented villous content.
