The invention discloses a vehicle-mounted automobile activity level measuring instrument and a measuring method used for emission research. The measuring instrument comprises a host computer, a GPS (Global Position System) receiving antenna and a power supply connection line, wherein the host computer comprises a CPU (Central Processing Unit), a data storage module connected with the CPU, an acceleration sensing chip, a storage battery, a GPS receiving module, an atmospheric pressure and temperature data acquisition module, a power supply interface, an I/O (Input/Output) interface, an atmospheric pressure level sensor and a temperature sensor, wherein the atmospheric pressure level sensor and the temperature sensor are connected with the atmospheric pressure and temperature data acquisition module; the GPS receiving module is used for realizing the GPS positioning data acquisition with high precision; the data storage module is used for realizing the storage of a large quantity of data; and the acceleration sensing chip is used for realizing the control such as electricity charge, instrument starting and ideal switchover. The measuring instrument is the combination of a GPS speed measuring instrument and an elevation meter and has the functions of storing a large quantity of data, making the data automatically enter into a low energy consumption state and the like; the requirements on long-term continuous tests is met; and furthermore complete automobile activity level data are obtained.
