In the present article we aim to establish What were the fundamental theoretical and empirical proposals on decision-making? Concern about this field of knowledge administrative born two facts: that in any organization, public or private decision-making is a pervasive phenomenon, which is an issue that in recent years the authors concerned while conducting another study around the field manager in Mexico. The article is divided into five sections, each corresponding to a decision model: the rational model, organizational model, the political model, the model of non-rational decision, and chaos in decision-making: some analyzes and current proposals. The substantive thrust of this article is to look in greater or less degree of modeling some of the choices presented in the organizational reality. Empirical techniques and proposals can be placed on a continuum at one end located to the rational decision, calculable and predictable; and on the other the ambiguity and uncertainty through the rational decision. Containing within these relatively recent limits on economic, administrative, organizational decision, policy and some other explanations.
