Study of high-temperature deformation of casting Fe-26 Cr-14 Ni/TiC(p) composite

1997
The tensile properties of casting Fe-26 Cr-14 Ni/TiC(p) (wt.%) composite prepared by in situ synthesis were tested at a high temperature. The results show that the strength and elastic modulus of, the matrix alloy at a high temperature are increased considerably by the TiC particulate. The composites keep a fine plasticity when the content of TiC does not exceed 6 wt. %. The deformation activation energy of the matrix alloy and composite, calculated by using the unified equation of strain rate based on the tested yield strength and elastic modulus, illustrates that the composite has a higher ability of deformation resistance. The fracture of the matrix alloy and composite containing 9 wt. % TiC is known as along the crystal boundary, and composites containing 3 and 6% TiC have the feature of toughness fracture.
