A year of monitoring of marine eutrophication on the coast of Ancona

In this paper we describe the results of a year of observations on the trend of algal phenomena (phytoplankton bloom and marine mucilage) along the coast of the Adriatic Sea off the province of Ancona. From the study it is evident that a strong correlation exists between the massive appearance along the coast of mucilage and the extraordinary affluence of fresh water in the spring of 1989. Furthermore, the role of soluble nitrogen as phosphorus as limiting factors of Noctiluca miliarism blooms is confirmed
