Possible Igneous Analog of Salt Dome Tectonics, Clark Mountains, Southeastern California: GEOLOGICAL NOTES

1973
A small dioritic pluton and an associated marble sheath have been diapirically emplaced into deformed lower Paleozoic carbonate rocks. The diapir appears structurally analogous to intrusive salt plugs with associated shale sheaths. Possibly the emplacement of the diapir, as that of salt plugs in the Gulf Coast area, was in response to buoyant forces.
