Análisis del comportamiento de fase de los sistemas surfactante-agua-aceite como método de caracterización de aceites utilizados en formulación dermocosmética
2009
A formulation scan technique is carried out to determine the HLB for which a Winsor Type III phase behavior is exhibited, which corresponds to an equal affinity of the surfactant mixture for the aqueous and oil phases of a surfactant-water-oil system. The use of the correlations for the attainment of Winsor's type III behavior allows the estimation of the oil characteristic parameter EACN (equivalent alkane carbon number). The general phenomenology associating the properties of the emulsions with the physicochemical formulation leads to the estimation of the surfactant HLB at which a minimum drop size is attained for both water-in-oil and oil-in-water emulsions.
