Rheological Properties of Blood after Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization with Iopromide

1993
The administration of radiological contrast media is associated with a risk of side effects, which arise in 7%-8% of cases (Ansell et al. 1980). Serious adverse effects must be expected in about 0.1% of all radiological examinations using contrast media. The multitude of side effects bears no relation to the toxicity of the substances. No firm dose-effect relations have been demonstrated so far (Laser and Lang 1970). The causes of adverse reactions to contrast media are unclear, and presently a multifactorial process is presumed.
