EnglishThe aim of this paper is to present an edition and commentary of Giovanni Pascoli’s Latin translation of Goethe’s Kennst du das Land, wo die Zitronen bluhn, a Lied which had a remarkable afterlife in music of the nineteenth century. The translation, which Pascoli made for himself as part of his teaching materials, demonstrates Pascoli’s interest in Goethe, documented in particular by his youthful Ciclo lirico. italianoSi presenta qui l’edizione commentata della traduzione latina del Lied di Goethe Kennst du das Land, wo die Zitronen bluhn, che ebbe una notevole fortuna musicale nell’Ottocento. Si tratta di un abbozzo destinato all’insegnamento liceale, che conferma l’interesse pascoliano per Goethe, documentato in particolare dal giovanile Ciclo lirico.
