Methods of suppressing tow ship noise with a horizontal linear array

Tow ship noise seriously influence the detection and direction of arrival (DOA) estimation performance of towed array. Null steering beamforming(NSBF), inverse beamforming(IBF) and non-data based beam-space transformation(NDBBT) are applied to suppress interference of tow ship in this paper. These methods are evaluated according to the improvement of signal interference noise ratio and DOA estimation precision. Simulation and experimental results show that all three methods can suppress interference of tow ship effectively so as to improve DOA estimation precision.
