Introduction. Increasing numbers of patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is accompanied by increasing of blood requirements to resolve anemia. Anemia in CKD decreasing quality of life and the incidence of death due to left ventricular hypertrophy has shown a significant increment. Causes of anemia in multifactorial CKD, one of the causes of anemia in CKD is the change in iron profile that cause functional disorders of iron metabolism. Therefore, this study is very important to know about the relationship of CKD as a risk factor for profile changes with the aim of reducing the incidence of anemia. Methods. This study is an observational analytic study with a case control design. The study sample was CKD patients and non-CKD patients. Data were obtained by observing the results of laboratory tests of iron profiles contained in the medical records of patients with CKD period and non-CKD patients using total sampling techniques and 588 research subjects consisting of 194 subjects had feritin values, 260 subjects had iron serum examination results, and 134 subjects had TIBC examination results. The data obtained were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U mean difference statistical test and the Chi-Square test. Results. Mann-Whitney U tests resulted in significant differences in the value of feritin in patients with CKD and non-CKD patients (p = 0,000), while differences in serum iron values (p = 0.128) and TIBC values (p = 0.79) between CKD patients and non-CKD patients were not found to be significant. Chi-Square test found a significant association between CKD with feritin (p = 0,000), serum iron (p = 0,007), and TIBC (p = 0,000). Conclusion. The conclusion is related to chronic kidney disease with iron profile of RSUP Mohammad Hoesin Palembang patients.
