LOGISTICS AND TRADE EXPANSION WITH MEXICO

With the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), many of the legal barriers to expanded trade with Mexico have been removed or reduced. There is little doubt that this will promote increased trade. However, the extent and pace of those increases depend in large measure upon the capacity logistical system. The Mexican logistical system is discussed in this paper. The paper is divided into four sections. Section 1 addresses the overriding importance of motor carriage and its prospects in the future. Mexican ports and railroads are discussed in the second section. The third section addresses storage. The findings are briefly summarized in the fourth section.
