Design and synthesis of some novel 6-methoxynaphthalene derivatives with Potential anticancer activity

2012
Starting from the naphthalene derivative, which belongs to the arylpropanoic acid family of NSAIDs, certain 6- methoxynaphthalene derivatives have been synthesized, and evaluated for their antiproliferative activities. The preliminary assays indicated that compounds 6b-d, 16 were found to have promising inhibitory activity against Colon cancer cell line HCT-116. Molecular modeling and docking of the active compounds into AKR1C3 complexed with its bound inhibitor Indomethacin using Molsoft ICM 3.4-8C program was performed in order to predict the affinity and orientation of the synthesized compounds at the active site. Detailed synthesis, spectroscopic and biological data are reported.
