Kupffer cell depletion does not significantly reduce the hepatic proinflammatory cytokine response to portal endotoxaemia in obstructive jaundice

The data suggest that, although Kupffer cells appear to initiate the inflammatory response to endotoxin in obstructive jaundice, other hepatic cells release proinflammatory cytokines subsequently.
