Nanolayer GO coated CNT film interlayer for lithium-sulfur batteries with enhanced cycling stability

2021
Abstract In this work, a nanoscale-thick graphene oxide (GO) layer is uniformly coated onto the surface of carbon nanotube (CNT) film and employed as an intermediate layer for Li-S batteries. Result shows that the porous GO/CNT film can facilitate the electrolyte penetration and ion transport, and buffer the volume expansion of cathode during the charge/discharge process. More importantly, the addition of trace amount GO significantly enhances the cycling stability of the cell. Therefore, as the loading density of GO on CNT film is 25 μg cm−2, the reversible capacity of the battery remains at ∼600 mA h g−1 over 300 cycles.
