Decision Support System for Pro-Active Flood Control on Jijia River (Romania)

2016
Decision Support Systems (DSSs) represent computer tools used to solve poorly structured or unstructured problems, among which the flood operation of large hydraulic systems present a special interest not only for the water managers, but also for a large category of stakeholders. In the paper a DSS for the operation of hydraulic structures on Jijia River system during floods is presented. The e-LAC web platform, containing a Geographic Information System (GIS) map, a dashboard and a control panel enables the decision makers to visualize the system status and to establish best operation rules. The software used for mathematical modelling (hydrological, hydraulic and structural operation modules) is Mike 11 by DHI. The results of modeling will be used as a virtual planning tool to assist decision makers during different phases of flood management.
