New extrapolation method for predicting nuclear masses
2020
In this paper, a practical extrapolation method is proposed to predict nuclear masses which are not experimentally accessible. Our new method is based on the Garvey-Kelson mass relations and $\mathrm{J}\stackrel{\ifmmode \ddot{}\else \"{}\fi{}}{\mathrm{a}}\mathrm{necke}$ formulas. We demonstrate that the predictive power of this method is very competitive in comparison with other previous models in the market; the root-mean-squared deviations of our extrapolated results are typically below 200 keV for mass number $A$ larger than 120, if one predicts nuclear masses within four or five steps beyond the borders of the Atomic Mass Evaluation (AME) databases.
