Material and methods. We examined 20 patients with normal hearing in pure-tone audiometry and without otitis media in medical history. Positive pressure in tympanic cavity was achieved using Valsalva's test. OAE and impedance audiometry were performed before and after Valsalva's test. Transient-evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE) and distortion-product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) at 0.7-4kHz and 1.5-6kHz, respectively, were analysed. Results. Results. Results. Results. Results. TEOAE signal amplitudes were found to vary at low frequencies, while in the DPOAE test the amplitudes varied both at low and high frequ- encies. Conclusions. Conclusions. Conclusions. Conclusions. Conclusions. Estimation of pressure in tympanic cavity is necessary for a reliable intrepretation of OAE results.
