Preparation of sustained-release capsules loaded with silymarin solid dispersions

OBJECTIVE To prepare sustained-release capsules Loaded with silymarin solid dispersions and to evaluate its releasing features in vitro.METHODS The ratio of SM/carrier was selected by comparing dissolution and solubilization efficiency. The formulation was designed by orthogonal method. HPMC was the matrix,MCC was used as additive.RESULTS The SM/poloxamer ratio was 1∶3 using poloxamer as carrier. The optimized prescription was A3B2C1,HPMC (K15M) as hydrophilic gel matrices material(20%); MCC-Solid Dispersions(1∶3). CONCLUSION The capsules have desirable sustain-release capability. The formulation and technique are simple and can be applicable for production.
