Apuntes históricos sobre las clasificaciones actuales de las patologías mentales. Historical review of the current classifications of mental disorders.

The present paper offers a brief historical review on the background of the current psychiatric classifications within the twentieth century, paying special attention to the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM), by the American Psychiatric Association and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), by the World Health Organization. In addition, we revise the operational diagnostic criteria that, in recent years, is being used by some psychodynamic groups. In particular, we study the Operationalised Psychody- namic Diagnostics system (OPD) developed by german psychoanalysts and the american Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM).
