An example of an N14 hyperfragment

1962
An event is described in which a K- meson comes to rest and reacts with an emulsion nucleus. From this interaction are emitted a pi meson and a short- range (2.0 plus or minus 0.5 mu ) hyperfragment. The hyperfragment decays by pi - emission. It is concluded that the hyperfragment is most likely /sub DELTA /N/sup 14/, with a DELTA binding energy of 11.7 plus or minus 7 Mev. Other possible identities of the hyperfragment are discussed. (T.F.H.)
