The invention discloses a rail breakage monitoring system based on power line carriers and a wireless communication technique. The system comprises a detection device, a central management device and a remote monitoring center; power line carrier modules and wireless communication modules are arranged in the detection device and the central management device. The detection device collects data and transmits the data to the central management device; the central management device collects the data of the detection device, carries out preliminary judgment and transmits to the remote monitoring center; the remote monitoring center determines whether a rail is broken through data analysis and carries out corresponding treatment. The system is advantaged by that the power line carrier modules can take the existing rail as communication carrier; network interconnection among multiple devices is realized through a power line carrier communication mode; the rail condition can be judged through the data of transmitted carrier signal voltage strength; in addition, the wireless communication modules can transmit carrier signal strength; when one mode is invalid, the rail condition is monitored through the other mode, the two modes are combined; therefore, the system stability and reliability are improved.
