Vibration-induced noise in extremely-low frequency magnetic receiving antennas

2021
The extremely low frequency magnetic antennas are widely used in geophysical exploration, marine electromagnetic detection, and other applications. However, the slight vibration of the antenna platform will cause extra antenna electromagnetic noise. In this letter, the electromagnetic noise of the magnetic antenna caused by vibration is simulated under different vibration conditions first. Then, in order to evaluate the effect of vibration on magnetic antenna performance, some vibration-induced noise measurement experiments of magnetic antenna were carried on. Experiment results show that vibration-induced noise is one of the main sources of antenna electromagnetic noise, but with proper vibration isolation technology, the vibration-induced noise can be reduced to the level of ambient electromagnetic noise.
