Heterotopic heart transplantation in 1988 ― recent selective indications and outcome

In 1984 cyclosporine became available and orthotopic heart transplantation was reintroduced. Since that time, heterotopic heart transplantation has been performed only in selected candidates, namely those with pulmonary hypertension (4 to 6 Wood units) or where there has been a gross weight mismatch (greater than 20%) between the donor and the recipient. The results of these selected indications are shown in this study
