An adaptive grid-embedding technique with high resolution for numerical simulation of inviscid supersonic/jet external flow interaction

1992
An adaptive grid-embedding technique is proposed here to simulate the complex flow fields induced by the interactions between supersonic jets and external flows. In regions where there are large variations in the flow parameters, a high-resolution TVD scheme is used to find the local flow field. In other regions, a conventional second-order scheme is used. A one-dimensional adaptive technique is developed for this purpose and applied to solve the multidimensional gas dynamics equations in conjuction with a Strang-type of discretizing scheme. As demonstrated, Euler equations for the interactions between supersonic jet and external flow field are solved
