자운고(紫雲膏)와 Gentamicin 병용이 창상치유 및 창상감염에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

2004
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the synergic effect of Jawoongo(紫雲膏) with gentamicin. Methods : The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC), MIC50 and MIC90 of single use of gentamicin and Jawoongo with their concomitant treatment against 3 strains of bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus), Streptococcus pyogenes(S. pyogenes), Pseudomonas aeruginosa(P. aeruginosa) were observed. In addition, changes of wound size(CT50), viable bacterial numbers, total white blood cell(WBC) count and WBC differential count were also monitored after experimental excision skin wound infection mouse models with S. aureus ATCC 25923, S. pyogens NCTC 10662 and P. aeruginosa ATCC 8668. Result : 1. In concomitant treatment of gentamicin and Jawoongo, relatively favorable antibacterial effects were Jawoongo-dose-dependently demonstrated against three strains. 2. In concomitant treatment of gentamicin and Jawoongo, relatively favorable decrease of wound size were Jawoongo-dose-dependently demonstrated. 3. In concomitant treatment of gentamicin and Jaw oongo, relatively decrease of CT50 was Jawoongodose-dependently demonstrated in all tested models. 4. In concomitant treatment of gentamicin and Jawoongo, significantly decrease of decrease of WBC numbers neutrophil and monocytes, and increase of lymphocytes were Jawoongo-dose-dependently demonstrated in all tested models. 5. In concomitant treatment of gentamicin and Jawoongo, significantly decrease of viable bacterial numbers were Jawoongo-dose-dependently demonstrated in all tested models. Conclusion : Based on the above results, in concomitant treatment of gentamicin and Jawoongo, dual effect to antibacterial activities and accelerating effect of wound healing were demonstrated with synergic effect.
