Design of up-down counter as SAR logic for high speed SAR ADC used in health care system

2016
In today's advance electronic and communication systems the role of high accuracy Analog to digital converters are of great importance. Due to the miniaturization in CMOS designing (length of Channel), processing of data in the analog domainbecomes more difficult because of lower supply voltages. Pipeline and flash ADCs has dominantly been used over past decade because of its high speed. Technological Improvements in these are not comparable with digital systems even though the performance of these circuits has been progressing over the years. On the other hand, SAR based ADC will provides us a better solution for various analog to digital systems. Data from the sensors or transducers, whose outputs are analog in nature should be digitally processed or transmitting data between chips through either long-range wireless links or high-speed transmission between chips on the same printed circuit board, these ADC becomes essential device. [3] The paper projects up down counter as Successive Approximation Register (SAR logic for a ADC that is one of the best suited for low power. Here the resolution is of 4-bit and a power consumption of few milliwatts. The Up down counter based SAR ADC is implemented in 45 nm. The CMOS technology having power supply of 1Volt and pin out with 1.8 Volt, used in Health Care System.
