Experimental study and mathematical modelling of zinc ingot melting behaviour in continuous hot dip galvanising process

1995
An experimental campaign as well as mathematical modelling were performed to better understand the melting behaviour of the metal ingots used for feeding zinc baths in the continuous hot drip strip galvanising process. The mathematical models were found to be, after adjustment, in good correlation with the experimental results and, thus, are usable (up to certain limits) in industrial practice for purposes such as predicting the maximum possible feeding rate in specific production situations or the effects of ingot shapes and sizes
